I have to say that I still don't quite understand it............My mind simply went blank whenever I saw technical terms Techlife sent me a quote on (a)installing the lead to the house from the street; (b)the cost for ONU connection; (c)internal wiring. Could anyone explain to me: (1)do I still need Telstra connected if I install optical fibre. (2)what do the above (a)(b)(c) mean? (3)as I am mainly concerned with the internet, is it worth installing opitcal fibre, or which one of (a)(b)(c) do I need? Very much appreciated!!!! hi Mago-lover (1) not sure if you still need telstra conduit, but what you can do is to ask internode ( the optical fibre internet service provide for alamanda) if they can provide phone service over the fibre, i would expect it can be done (2) (a) is a conduit ( like a PVC pipe ) to run the fibre from street to the external wall of you house near the meter box or your designated location, techincally just a PVC pipe withsomeone did the correct digging. (b) once the fibre reached the external wall , a Optical network termination unit (ONU) is needed to recieve the signal from the fibre, this unit probably make the signal in the fibre ( which is light) into some form that your cat5e internet cable ( the blue one you use for internet connection) can understand . (c) then they will run the internet cable to anywhere in the house where you want to plug your computer into internet. this include providing a wall plate with a socket for you to plug in the internet plug. or what i will do is to plug a wireless router into this point then i can share the internet signal throughout the house and any laptop will use wifi to obtain the signals. (3)so techincally you need 123, this service is claimed to be at 50mbps ( very very very fast, e.g. download a movie in 10-15 minutes) then up to 100mbps in 2 years time , 100mbps(download a full length high res movie in few minutes) is what Kevin Rudd is trying to build ( the national boardband network) across the country expected in 8-10 years so we are actually getting it ahead. for your info, in hongKong, people are having 1000Mbps hope this help and accurate, Thanks a lot, Damon. It is much clearer to me now!! Just one more question, how much download capacity do I have if the optical fibre is installed? Re: Anyone building at Alamanda??? 60Jul 07, 2009 5:25 pm Hi guys, just recently put down a deposit on a lot in stage 10 Alamanda and I'm going through the land contract with my solicitor. As i'm all new to this, i'm just wondering, say if i purchase a lot that is 16m x 32m, how exactly will i know that that is the size of my lot at the time i sign my land contract when it is impossible to inspect the lot cause nothing has been pegged out just yet?. Anyone can shed some light? Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24833 As title suggests, looking at using the interlocking Pentablock stacked stone products to replace failing timber retaining… 0 17878 I am building in claymore NSW and this is shown in the building envelope plan. … 0 10037 |
