Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Light bricks and a light roof??? 8Apr 19, 2009 10:28 pm Us too We are copying haywgl and having Nougat bricks with a Dune roof. We were driving around our estate today and really noticed that there weren't that many light roofs with lighter bricks. It's okay though- I like to stand out Building a Modified Lawson Modern 29 @ Botanic Ridge, Cranbourne South, Victoria Re: Light bricks and a light roof??? 9Apr 19, 2009 10:42 pm I have had my plans drawn with 2 course bricks, but now I don't know! Oh, it's so difficult, and this is just the outside! Meghan, do you have photos of your place up? Oh, have just seen you're at about the same stage as me! I pick up my contracts etc to look through tomorrow. So exciting! But I am still nervous about the outside! The inside doesn't seem to bother me as much... I don't know why! Maybe because I've seen a lot of outsides of new homes but not the insides My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: Light bricks and a light roof??? 10Apr 19, 2009 10:46 pm Midland Brick have a colour visualisation program called, funnily enough, Midland Vision. I'm going on Wednesday for an appointment with someone to see if I like my light/light idea! You can see bricks (obviously Midland's only!) plus roof, window trim etc, along with pavers, garage door etc. Has anyone done something like this? My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! I love it! I'm so glad you posted it - it's more like my house than Haywgl's (mine is single storey) so it's a bit easier to see how mine would look. How did you get this picture? Is it a display home or through visualisation software? My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: Light bricks and a light roof??? 13Apr 19, 2009 11:20 pm It's a display home that is NOT my builders so SHHHHH There is a similar visualisation thingie on the colorbond website... http://www.colorbondcolours.com/go/home/residential/colour-visualiser Building a Modified Lawson Modern 29 @ Botanic Ridge, Cranbourne South, Victoria Re: Light bricks and a light roof??? 14Apr 19, 2009 11:50 pm We have quite a few, light bricks (2 course too I think), light roofs in our estate. Our fences are also harvest! Not building SOR are you? If you would like me to take some snaps of them for you I can do that. We will be out that way tomorrow painting...and the next day...and the next day.... Re: Light bricks and a light roof??? 15Apr 20, 2009 9:50 am Ooo lovely facade Meghan! I love the timber look with the nougat. We just had our front doors painted in Dune and they don't have the WOW! factor I was after, I think we are going to take them down and buy some nice double timber doors to put on after handover! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Light bricks and a light roof??? 16Apr 20, 2009 11:01 am meghan I have a photo of what ours will look like though I love this facade! Light houses are so refreshing and happy looking! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Light bricks and a light roof??? 17Apr 20, 2009 12:50 pm Monkey, yes, I'm building in Bertram There are no houses around me yet but it's (newly) established a couple of streets away. Lots of people seem to have the florentine limestone (with the liney texture through the brickwork). I thought I liked it but it's overkill in this suburb so I've changed my mind! They're all really nice houses and I'd be happy to call one mine, but I'm now thinking something different. I've seen many houses with very light roofs (lighter than dune) and some dark roofs but don't know how many with Dune. Last time I was down there I didn't know any of the names or colours so I'll check when I'm down next (probably in a few days). I've met one of the neighbours opposite but wished I'd given her my details (she'd come down to dance around on her land and show it off to her family like I had!). It would me lovely to start our little street community as early as possible so we could all go through the building process together! My builder is building quite a lot of houses in the area so maybe he can get us all connected. Not sure if he'd want to or not, but he's already offered to set me in contact with a guy who is building there himself (with my builder also) who has a security screen business. The issue I'm having now is what to do with my garage door! There is not a great deal of actual brickwork to be seen at the front of my house, it's mainly the blade wall and the garage door, so I really need to figure that out. Though I am making the garage wider so i'll have a bit extra on each side. Will see when I pick up the plans today! (And then you'll all be in for some posting from my end!!) ** I just wanted to add how wonderful it is to have found these forums. You're all lovely and have helped me so much already in less than a day! My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: Light bricks and a light roof??? 19Apr 20, 2009 1:18 pm I def like the light coloured houses as apposed to the dark houses. I dont think it would look odd at all! And not at all ugly like some people think!! ABSOLUTELY not, Bel - your place is superb, love it, even thought mine's quite different! Anypne who says that has no taste!
