I do recall he posted in a thread on the very topic and outlined just why it costs what it does. Re: Outdoor water features 4Apr 18, 2009 11:48 pm blue board is attached to timber frame, timber and water dont mix, the water features you probably have seen in displays arnt built to last 20 years only short term ie: life of the display all projecting or trickle decent water features should be built out of masonry. the heads on ebay are cheap, you get what you pay for as an example a 1.2 mtr projecting head out of stainless is app. $500. they have internal baffles etc for correct water dispersion on the projected sheet of water this type of water feature isnt cheap to build to give you an idea of material cost a 2 mtr long x 2 mtr high wit ha 600mm trough , stack stone, render etc would be around $4000 + gst then add labour etc costs on top Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: Outdoor water features 5Apr 19, 2009 8:49 pm Taffy, Further to the D mans post (Da Vinci) have a look at my topic here: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=11355 This has photos of the besser lock wall i am bulding for my water feature. it will be rendered once finished. It's just further down the priorities list. Re: Outdoor water features 11May 02, 2009 11:38 pm Not entirely related to this thread in terms of the *actual* subject matter...but on the question of money and priorities... We went to the Home Show (thanks HomeOne for tix) and saw a major landscape designer at his stand (a very well known person whom I won't name for obvious reasons). We had just been phoning around for quotes to get a landscape plan done for our DA (average price $1000) and I thought if I don't ask the famous designer I will always wonder. Anyway -- he said $7000 to prepare a basic plan for council!!!! Hahahahaha -- just a tad out of our price range. Pix Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. We have a meeting with the same person in early June - maybe we will need to cancel this if it is going to be that much!! Re: Outdoor water features 13May 03, 2009 10:23 pm The $7000 was just for the plan. It did not include materials, plants, labour etc. For that we were quoted in excess of $150K.
