The 2nd floor extension that was done on my place in the 90's is hardiplank and frankly - it looks F%$#@ ugly. Plain flat boring painted surfaces - and 13 years on the paint is fine - but man is it ugly and looks just like it is - a hardiplank bit plonked on top of a briock house and it is totally out of place.!!! I'm currently working on ways of improving it, with colourbond corrugated iron being one of them. Don't go the hardiplank option it is cheap and it looks cheap. !! Otherwise find one which don't have the hardiplank, and make some internal modification, in this way it may be cheaper.
