Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Apr 08, 2009 7:25 pm Just wondering if anyone can help me out. I have a steel frame house in construction as you all know and was wondering which is the best way to install the projector mount. You can see in the pic below the hdmi cable is taped to part of the frame. Is that part ok to screw the projector mount into? If not should it be the frame a bit to the right in the photo that won't be flush with the plaster? I am looking at buying a mount from selby's. Will they work ok with steel frame? I have no idea, so looking forward to responses... http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff285/agardner5/IMGP3301.jpg Re: Installing a Projector Mount with Steel Frame house... 2Apr 08, 2009 11:36 pm Hey WBA, Straight into the steel is fine...or you could just put a large block of flat wood in the celing a screw into that to get the projector in the centre of the room. The Selby brackets will be fine either way!! Re: Installing a Projector Mount with Steel Frame house... 3Apr 09, 2009 10:58 am Ditto. If you're not so sure about pre-drilling and then screwing into the steel frame, all the block of wood method requires is for you to slide some roof tiles out of the way (after the place is finished), put a decent sized block/plank of wood on top of the ceiling plaster ("liquid nail" it in place if you are doing this on your own) then pre-drill and screw the bracket into it from underneath. You will need to put a big enough hole in the block/plank to pass the cable(s) through too... I checked my plans and saw it stated provided noggin for future projector... So I called my Site Supervisor yesterday and he is going to get the chippie to put a timber noggin in as he is there now doing the doors and architraves, they didn't see it as it was on the electrical plan which is a silly spot, since the electricians don't do the noggins.
