Other problems i can for see is how do you plan on fixing the static doors (40mm) to you opening, you will have no reveal to fix architraves too. Just some food for thought. Regards Ben There are suppliers who make only door frames (sorry I only know Vic suppliers), so get a quote for the frame to fit the doors - my guess $500. The gap can be finished with an off-the-shelf mushroom stop. Ed "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. What is your solution? Ed "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. Ed
That would look as rough as guts
Sorry, totally disagree - it's what they do on double entry doors as standard. What is your solution? Ed
On double entry doors they use a mushroom stop "T" shape which is alot stronger than a tacked on "D" molding and its not on the hinged side. Solution would be to buy a frame and fit the 4x one lites into it but i would still put a rebated stile on eash side, 1 to attach the hinges to and 2 so as you have something descent to attach the side light to. you can buy pre-fab stiles in kdhw and meranti all you need to do is cut to length take a small rebate out of the sill and head and screw together. I quite often fit new entry systems with "lose" sidelights, it would be identical to buying one from the manufacturer except you may save your self some dollars, but just not time. Thanks Ben Re: Can this be done for a French door? 9Apr 08, 2009 1:07 pm BUILDERSEDGE The gap can be finished with an off-the-shelf mushroom stop. Ben That's what I said... mushroom stop, not D mould. Plus manufactured door frame. Just like the real thing....
