But it's only a very tiny window (laundry) that it's next to, and it's amongst lots of other windows and doors so it doesn't stick out. (I don't think it does anyway. Possibly all my guests will be horrified at my crooked bricks ) Your second pic does look out of whack doesn't it What could be the reason for this, other than the wall being built on a slight slant?? will be interesting to find out what your brickie/SS says about this? Re: Does your mortar line up vertically?? 12Apr 01, 2009 6:31 am Thanks everyone for taking the time to add your comments. I will keep you all posted as to the outcome (we will probably find out next week). Thanks again Re: Does your mortar line up vertically?? 13Apr 01, 2009 7:45 am Jacq_n_Paul You make complete sense donuts. You may be right, they have cut a few bricks to a smaller size which could as a result of the window. But I'm not 100% sure. The bricks are at the back of our house where we plan on putting our outdoor table and bbq (our entertaining area) so its going to be there for all to see. I've attached another photo which shows the join of the two walls of our entertaining area. If you look on the right hand side wall, next to the join, you will see the bricks have been cut unevenly. At the bottom of the photo there is no brick and then by the top of the photo there is a thick piece of brick. It doesn't make sense to me (but then again I'm not a buider). IMHO I would say that the consistency of mortar between the bricks horizontally, has been way off. It would be safe to assume that the lower part of the wall was done on a different day to the upper wall (second story) hence the why the 1/4 bricks are more exposed than the lower. Hope everything works out. Re: Does your mortar line up vertically?? 14Apr 02, 2009 7:49 am I took a good look at the bricks at our place last night when I visited (still going btw) and there is a section at the back of the garage where they've needed to cut/shorten the bricks to get a neat end and all of them have been cut the same length so that they still line up. I took a phot but haven't uploaded it yet - should be on my blog later today. My blog: http://artstitcheshome.blogspot.com Re: Does your mortar line up vertically?? 15Apr 02, 2009 10:12 am Hi, It also looks as if your walls are not quite as straight as they could be, because in your posted second lot of pics - if you follow the corner from bottom to top, the spacer bricks get thicker towards the top, which means the wall is running in towards the top? Tell me how your window sills are in every window? Do they all have the same fall/angle? Pinkladyloo 4 10825 Hi everyone, Looking for some advise.
