Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 28, 2023 9:16 pm We have a custom build currently at the electrical/plumbing rough in stage. We still have flexibility to make some changes to facade colours, so after any advice or recommendations. The front of our house is east facing, with the living/kitchen/dining and bedrooms on the north, north-east side. We are surrounded by trees on three sides, apart from our neighbours on the southern side (we are a battleaxe block a the end of a cul-de-sac). The southern side of the house will be what you see first when approaching the house. Internally, the house is quite monochromatic. Black wood matt cabinetry, white stone benchtops, blackbutt flooring and staircase. Tapware is brushed brass, basins are black. Externally, the following decisions are set: • Roof — Colorbond Dover White • Gutters — Colorbond Monument • Window frames — black (Night Sky?) • Hekahoods (window awnings) — Colorbond Night Sky • Garage door — Colorbond Night Sky • Entry arbours — Colorbond Night Sky As we are surrounded by trees and are somewhat rural, we would prefer a darker facade. The north-east side will be white as to help with keep those rooms cool as they will receive the direct sun. It's the front (east) facade and side (south) that we would like to use the darker colours on as heat and UV damage to the paint is less of an issue. Our external paint colours are Taubmans Cotton Sheets (white), Monument and Night Sky. Our most recent idea uses Night Sky. The colours from the garage and second storey will be brought around to the southern side. On the southern side of the house is a courtyard that will be viewed from the stairwell. The house is hebel so it will be painted render.
