As I am sure you understand, direct stick means you are gluing the boards directly to your subfloor with nothing in between other than glue. A floating floor allows you to have an acoustic underlay which prevents sound transmitting. There are various types and levels of quality, but the good ones work well. Have you given thought to a Hybrid floor? Which you would lay straight over the sub floor and it's quieter? We prefer the look and feel of timber over hybrid although hybrid certainly has its upsides.
