Fixing cracked stormwater PVC pipe

Hi All, I was digging a trench at my front yard and accidentally crack the stormwater pipe which is around 40mm underground. Because the pipe exit was higher than the running pipe. Water leaked out slowly. I wrap the pipe with rubber and applied two pieces of halved coupling on top, then sealed it with stainless zip ties on both ends. After that, a drop of water still came out every 3 second. Can I walk away from it. My tradie friend says that it’s not a biggie. I just wanna hear more opinions. Thx ahead!

A drop every 3 seconds = 4.5 litres (not Apothecaries' measure) every 24 hours.

The leak is not a big deal unless it becomes a nuisance.

Your repair method was not professional, plenty of info on You Tube on easier, correct methods.

The stormwater pipe should be a minimum 100mm below the surface, more if it is a trafficable area.

Thx for the reply! Glad to know it’s not a biggie. I googled and found that solution sounding more secure to me. I came across 4 stormwater pipes through my digging. They are all 40mm deep underground. I think my builder did a cheap job.

Plumbers 'can be' plumbers, made all the worse by self certification (some States may not have this) which the building surveyor invariably accepts as proof of compliance! The good thing is that you now know but you could lodge a complaint to get the plumber back to rectify to compliance.
