I am sure it will survive the winter with your great care. 22 deg indoor is not that bad. Sydney indoor can be down to 15 deg and mine is doing good 😊. It will be great if you are so kind to share a cutting when it is available. Cheers/Roger Re: Where to by Ming Aralia (Polyscias Fruticose) in Sydney? 11Jan 04, 2024 8:49 pm rogerchan3 Hi Tomas, Great to hear from you! Hope you are doing well! I am back to Sydney. No luck with bring cuttings from overseas. Australian custom doesn’t like the idea much ☹ Instead, I got a small pot local in Sydney and it is adapting quite well. Only it appears a bit different. Do you think it is the same species? If you like, I can split and send you a small pot. Hi Roger, I would like to grow a Ming Aralia plant too. We live 2 hours north of Sydney, but it still would have to be indoors over winter I guess. Could you point me in some direction? Or could I purchase a cutting of yours if big enough to take cuttings? Cheers Michal Re: Where to by Ming Aralia (Polyscias Fruticose) in Sydney? 13Jan 05, 2024 6:19 pm Tito Hi Michal, I have a tiny cutting in Canberra that’s struggling, but as soon as it’s big enough to survive a cutting I can send you one. Tomás That would be awesome. Let me know when it's ready. I am happy to pay or send you a plant or two in return. 0407 942 114 Re: Where to by Ming Aralia (Polyscias Fruticose) in Sydney? 14Jan 05, 2024 10:05 pm Hi Tomas and Michal, I do have a small seedling that can share. It has been growing for half a year and with roots well developed. Only I am not sure if it is Parsley Aralia (Polyscias Fruticosa Elegans - ref https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/poly ... a-elegans/) or Ming Aralia (ref https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/polyscias-fruticosa/ ). Can you tell the difference? I think your specimen is still too small to survive dividing. Let's wait until it's much bigger. Yours is the Parsley Aralia with its short leaf fronds. The Ming Aralia has long, droopy fronds. Take care, Tomás Re: Where to by Ming Aralia (Polyscias Fruticose) in Sydney? 16Jan 06, 2024 6:46 pm rogerchan3 Hi Tomas and Michal, I do have a small seedling that can share. I’m really afraid it’s going to kark it. Tomás Re: Where to by Ming Aralia (Polyscias Fruticose) in Sydney? 18Jan 07, 2024 10:11 am Hi Tomas, Is Canberra still very cold? Poor little baby! Hope it can make it. The seedling that I showed was already split from the parent plant for 6 months. I think it can survive travelling to Canberra Though is not Ming Aralia, not sure if you would like to have it? Hi Michal, I just made another cutting. Still in greenhouse - fingers crossed! You may have to wait before I can mail to you. Cheers/Roger Re: Where to by Ming Aralia (Polyscias Fruticose) in Sydney? 20Jan 07, 2024 4:10 pm rogerchan3 Hi Tomas, Is Canberra still very cold? Now is actually a good time with the non-winter season (I hesitate to use the word ‘summer’ now). I’m cautious about showing my private address on a web thread - can I email you? I’m at tomasflamenco@gmail.com My Ming was doing ok in the bathroom, then I moved house and perhaps the lighting was insufficient and it suddenly started yellowing. I’ve put it outdoors now that the non-winter is here, but we’ve still had some cold snaps.
