Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 18, 2023 12:50 am Hi there, just found builder forgot to use anticon blanket under my 1st floor roof but sisalation applied. Now Builder accept to redo this job but they won't accept to use new colorbond but still install current one. They said tradie plumber will certify no leakage issue and i can send my inspector to check through if any damage after redo complete. My concerns are: 1. hard to find any leakage as blanket can absorb most of water; 2. flash, skylights and hot water solar panel need all reinstall again i think? Anyone has any suggestion if i shall proceed or not to do? Re: Help !! Redo Colorbond Roof Installation 2Feb 18, 2023 10:37 am Another concern is if the colorbond is scratched during the removal and re-installation process this will significantly compromise its durability and warranty. Colorbond is made of steel coated with a hot dipped metallic anticorrosive coating thats topped with layers of primer and paint. Scratches through the paint layers and metallic coating down to the steel base material are not effectively protected by later touch up paint spray. In addition any paint touch ups, even though initially the same colour, will age differently to the original colorbond paint surface and look awful. Suggest you seek further advice from colorbond themselves or the corrugated roofing manufacturer before agreeing the builder's proposal. Re: Help !! Redo Colorbond Roof Installation 3Feb 18, 2023 10:50 am Hey chars0974 They will remove, insulate and refit the existing roof in small sections. The new insulation will be properly laid, lapped and fixed in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations Damaged sheets and flashings are to be replaced Make sure you photo/video the entire roof first, put everything in writing. The same must be done to the underside/ inside the roof re. sheet fixings per wind rating requirements. Any damage caused when undertaking the remedial work is the responsibility of the builder and has to be repaired by the builder You've just highlighted the importance of proper inspections before and during construction. The builder generally withholds payment from the roof plumber until the works done...you'll need to keep an eye on how well its done...Advise you are preparing to withhold/delay the progress payment. Should the dispute escalate to the building regulators tell em.
