Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 24, 2022 9:17 am We're building a double storey and looking for an industrial look, so using a grey brick, some white cladding then dark roof/windows and garage door. My question is, should I go black or monument? I'm leaning towards black for windows garage but concerned black roof is too much (skillion so not visible much from front view). Could I go black fascia/gutter but monument roof? That way I get a solid black roof line but the roof panels are slightly softer - or would that look stupid?Anyone got any pics of a comparison between monument vs black? Would love to hear thoughts. Re: Facade/window colours - Monument or black? 2Jul 24, 2022 10:25 am Are you going to have roof tiles / metal roof? If metal, I suggest to stay away from dark color as it will heat up your roof space considerably and you will end up hearing frequent "popping" sound. Re: Facade/window colours - Monument or black? 4Jul 24, 2022 12:13 pm No we haven't experienced it ourselves since we are using light roof color, anticon and R7 insulation. But our roof plumber has installed a few dark color roof due to request from his clients and he said never again. Dark metal roof absorbs so much heat during summer and it makes the temperature on your roof cavity a lot hotter than the temperature outside. This will make your roof more prone to the popping sound. Re: Facade/window colours - Monument or black? 5Jul 24, 2022 1:51 pm I had the same dilemma, wanted a dark roof but not the heat. Did a test on a piece of monument and surfmist with an infrared gun on a 31 degree day the surfmist surface temperature was 39 and the monument was 61. I went with shale grey in the end. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 34680 The warning is on the sticker on the door too. Second the aluminium powdercoat 6 18694 |
