Have you spoken to your lender. AFAIK, most discourage FHB from doing that? At worse your builder is insolvent and $15000 will fund his projects for another week but not yours , lol, your build is 12 months away? Thank you for your reply! So this $15000 needs to be paid up front???? That’s just insane! I rather ask them to reprice it when it’s closer to the build then. The land is still developing and it’s due to be ready in November this year. So about 9 months away! So not even 12 months…. there are a few builders in the Home World offering 18 months fixed price, have you checked with them. even the builder increases their price a couple of times a year, but $15k, it seems too much. Thank you for your reply! Yes I also thought $15000 is way too much for 9 months of waiting… I just set up a meeting with them. I’ll see what they say… do you know, if I walk out of this company, can I still use the drawings that I had? I drew them with the SketchUp and they just made it into a floor plan. But the idea is mine. I don’t know how it works with copyrights and all that… Re: HELP! I just got a draft contract 6Feb 21, 2022 2:01 pm I wouldn't sign anything until much closer, confirm with your developer a month before titles are due as to whether they are looking to be on time or not. Certainly don't hand over any money to them just yet. Re: HELP! I’m worried they might scare me saying the fee will go up much higher and end up paying a lot more than $15000 later on, if I don’t secure it now…. (It’s just my imagination they might do it on me) Re: HELP! (It’s just my imagination they might do it on me) To get you to sign now they will 100% tell you the price will go up if you don't secure it now and it probably will. But if it jumps up ridiculous amounts when you come back to them in a few months you can easily walk away and find another builder and you've not lost thousands of dollars in deposits you won't get back.
