Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Looking for Legal Advice of Home Renovation 5Feb 16, 2022 2:41 pm thanks for that, never use NCAT before, do i need to hire a solistor, looks like i can represent it by my self? Do I need to get a third party to do a inspection before I lodge with NCAT. I don't know what kind of evidence can be accepted by NCAT? Re: Looking for Legal Advice of Home Renovation 6Feb 16, 2022 5:19 pm You don't need a solicitor at ncat however their advice on the application and hearing evidence preparation may be beneficial. You will need to compare the costs and likely benefits of their advice. You can represent yourself. You will need solid expert witness evidence to support your claim. Some private building inspectors like homespect provide such services. Again consider your cost benefit equation. More info about ncat is here https://www.ncat.nsw.gov.au/ncat/how-nc ... apply.html Good luck! Re: Looking for Legal Advice of Home Renovation 7Feb 17, 2022 3:37 am dc279 Anyone can give me any legal advice how to deal with this home renovation? We replaced our old door last year, but since we had this new door it kept making popping noise, supplier fixed two times, but the problem still there, supplier and manufacture refuse to come back to fix, or replace it, or refund. Lodge with Fair Trading but still unresolved. Any one have similar case, any idea? dc279 Just wondering what part of Sydney you are in? If you are near one of our jobs I might be able to get one of my boys to pop over just to see if we can diagnose the problem for you. Happy if you PM me. I have no idea how much will it cost to fix it, whether it is installation problem or manufacuture problem, no idea. Cheers Simeon I think you might have misunderstood me. I was offering to help diagnose the problem for you free of charge ie was it the installation or a fault with the manufacturing so that you would know who to target with your warranty claim. I wasn't offering to fix it. Alternatively, are you able to send a video showing the issue and we can see if we can figure it out?
