Thanks. Will check it out. Now that you've had windows and doors from Super house for a while, any problems? How do you feel about them now? Hello, I saw many very helpful posts from you on the forum - thanks!. Seems like you are also from Western Sydney. Would you mind telling me what you paid for shipping to Sydney? Can I get it shipped to my house? And, can you confirm the certifier accepted the claimed Australian Standards for the windows. Need quite a couple of windows & doors for a house and two granny flats. Re: My experience buying windows in China 176Feb 22, 2022 6:31 pm KateG I’m working in the building industry as a project manager assistant and we bought all windows for our recent project in China. I’m also an owner builder and know that saving money on windows can make a big difference in the budget. That’s why I share my experience here. We met the window company representatives at a trade show in Sydney and visited several of their projects in Sydney before we considered working with them. Beforehand we’ve consulted with major Australian brands and we were impressed by the Chinese knowledge about windows, glass types, wind rating, insulation values and frames. The service and response time was also remarkable compared to Australian window companies. We started with the window list that we’ve got from the house designer (including basic rules), so the window selection process was pretty smooth. The company has different systems for residential or commercial use and the quality is competitive to Australian products in every price range. Some facts: The windows are compliant to AS/NZ Standard. The range of glass is also satisfying. (single, double, low E…) They have standard frame colors and produce custom colors as well We were well in our schedule and I can not complain about anything. (One of the fly screenes was damaged during transport and they send us a new one.) Shipping was organized by the window company and conducted by a Sydney based importing agent. They were very professional and I've worked with them again. No paper work, no headaches and no extra costs (Only what was communicated upfront.) Are there any lessons I’ve learnt that improves communications / reduces errors / encourages good working relationship? It is always important to communicate clear and precise what you want. If you want something out of the ordinary send sample photos of what you want. Ask the window company to do the same to avoid misunderstandings. This is more a general advise that would apply to Australian companies as well: Don't mix to many window systems and glass types. This creates a possibility of error. And before you order know what windows you want (including current BASIX rules). The windows we ordered cost half as much compared to the Australian market. Shipping costs around 2000AUD to Sydney including fees. If you import as a private person you have t pay 10% GST . When it comes to the shipping process ask the company to give you a "certificate of origin" because it safes you 5% import duty. If you want to make the deal extra safe pay via Alibaba trade assurance. It works a bit like PayPal and they would help with complaint management in case there is something to complain. But my general experience with the Chinese company was very good and they helped where ever there is something that can be approved and was promised. We're going to order with them again. If you want contact information PM me. It would be great if you could share the details to tutulbuet@gmail.com Re: My experience buying windows in China 177Feb 23, 2022 7:32 am Hi 'boneym', I am also looking into importing windows, doors and cabinets for a house we are renovating, and a granny flat. I have been in contact(Alibaba messaging) with a sales person from SuperWu (SuperHouse) https://cnsuperwu.en.alibaba.com/ They also gave me the contact for a kitchen and cabinet place - www.aisenfurniture.com They seem to work together, and can pack all windows and cabinets in the same container. The double glazed windows and doors are very heavy. Shipping them here seems super expensive. Not sure how or when KateG got it shipped for around $2000? After all fees and charges the quotes I got were more than twice that just for some windows and doors. The shipping quote the factory in China gives you is NOT the actual price! There are still lots of fees and charges, GST & Duty added to that once it arrives at the port in Australia. The best solution I have found till now is getting a whole 20" container shipped to Sydney. We often import products from China via my business. But, never a container before. The importing company I normally use (OOCL) gave me a quote just under $10,000 for importing the container, with all fees and charges(there are many additional "hidden" fees), and transport via side loader truck to a local self storage place that can store a container($250 for 1 month). The shipping place said I can keep the container free of charge for 14 days. So, I will have 14 days to unload the super heavy windows and doors(over 200kg for a 2.4m sliding door apparently). Re: My experience buying windows in China 178Feb 23, 2022 7:44 am The price of sea freight has gone up heaps so it can't be 2k anymore. Get a quote from TiLogistics from Jake and see if he can do better. The service there is amazing. I use Superhouse to manufacture. Do you maybe know someone in Sydney who would be willing to show some of the windows/doors from SuperHouse? I am located in North West Sydney.
