Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Painting asbestos 3Oct 27, 2021 5:49 pm Stewie D How hot does the sheeting become when the fireplace is used? If it isn't too hot to touch, then any acrylic paint will do. It is just to seal the fibres so that they don't escape from the sheeting. Stewie I haven't actually checked while the fire has been running and it's unlikely we'll fire it up again this year now. I believe it is a double walled flue though. Would a product like this be suitable too? It says it can be used for asbestos sealing. https://www.bunnings.com.au/gripset-bet ... l_p0960184 What you are looking at is fibrous plaster, true gypsum, it is cast on horizontal beds with fibers included to give strength. I has no Asbestos in it. Houses before 1985… 2 7368 4 1903 That brown colour looks like Masonite or hardboard. Get it checked but typically asbestos was used in wet areas and plaster board or Masonite in other areas 1 641 |
