Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 14, 2021 10:23 am Hey Everyone I am planning to build an Investment house in Brisbane and all contracts have been signed a few months ago. As there is a shortage in timber builder has free upgraded timber to Steel which I had no concerns as I have researched. now I am dealing with another issue as the builder is offering me AAC cladding (75mm thick) instead of brick. I am a bit concerned here so I am asking your advice or opinion guys. builder is offering AAC cladding then render around the house with RenderWall AAC Low Build, Sponge Fine Render and 1x Acrashield Paint to stop water penetration. my question: Is this a good option to use AAC cladding as proposed or should I still go with brick? what are your thoughts guys. Really appreciate your opinions, thoughts, advice in Advance. cheers Re: Building a new house in Brisbane. The AAC is rarely installed correctly. A lot of AAC homes get joint cracking (from frame movement/poor AAC installation) as the render systems typically have no joint reinforcement like plasterboard taping or cement sheet taping. Believe CSR Hebel specifications request coating system to have a 1mm crack bridging capacity. Acrashield is a premium product from Dulux, you do need 2 coats and will provide some crack bridging. Unfortunately, Acrashield is often substituted. Title: Expert Tips for Painting Your Own House: Insights from Brisbane Painting… 0 292 Standard uninsulated double brick has an R value of around 0.7.
