Can’t decide. 6Sep 20, 2021 8:43 pm Haven't installed it yet but reason for Actron: - price wise it wasn't much more - get better and real zone control each room with temperature sensors - runs much more efficient I can turn things completely down over night and the unit powers down to a few kws Re: Actron or Daikin? Can’t decide. 7Sep 28, 2021 2:04 am Go with the Actron (or anything other than Daikin), I would not touch Daikin with a barge pole. My folks place (2010 build) just had the second system fail with the E7 fan error fault this year. Quite common for the outdoor unit fan to fail on Daikin units which fries the main PCB. We had the first unit repaired for about $3500 earlier this year & just got quoted $4000 this week on the other unit with no ETA on parts availability. Re: Actron or Daikin? Can’t decide. 8Oct 28, 2021 12:24 pm Also check what operating temperature the outdoor units are rated for. From memory the Actron was rated to a higher temperature. Re: Actron or Daikin? Can’t decide. 9Oct 28, 2021 5:14 pm I’m the OP. I ended up choosing the Actron ESP Ultima. I’m quite happy with it. I have 6 zones and I’m using the Que controllers. Each zone has its own thermostat, so heats / cools each zone accordingly … and it works quite well. The problem I’ve found with other aircon systems is they tend to get too cold in certain rooms. With this you don’t really know it’s on, its just very comfortable. I found through winter our heating bill was very expensive. We only ran the zones we needed. It’s a new build and heavily insulated and all windows are double glazed. But the power bill was painful, however its a really big house. I have had some issues with the system. The zone controllers had to all be replaced - apparently it was a known bad batch which were installed before they knew about the issues. Some controller card was replaced as it wouldn’t open some zones correctly. And I’ve had the main controller replaced as it stopped working. Overall I’m pretty happy with it, and it heats and cools quite well. I do recommend it. Re: Actron or Daikin? Can’t decide. 10Oct 28, 2021 5:45 pm Joejoemetoo Hi, I’m trying to decide which ducted system to choose for our new house being built in Melbourne. It’s a large double story house, 41 squares (381sqm) of living space. I’ve narrowed it down to two systems, Actron or Daikin. Option 1: Actron Air ESP Platinum Que 21kw 3 phase 6 zones 1 que touch controller 5 que sensors (in each other zone) Option 2: Daikin premium inverter 24kw 3 phase MyAir zone controller by advantage air 10 zones each with temperature sensors 1 main touch screen controller I like and dislike things about both systems, and having trouble deciding. Being such a large house I’m concerned about having enough power to heat and cool the house effectively. Neither system is large enough to do the whole house, but that’s ok as we’ll be running it zoned. I like that with Daikin / MyAir we have 10 zones with temperature sensors, so every room can have it’s own desired temperature set. I like that you can control the airflow to each zone. For example if one room gets too much air, you can adjust the airflow to that one room via the controller. The Daikin has more heating power than the Actron. I like the Actron because the controller and zoning system are all made by the same company and if anything goes wrong, they can trouble shoot better and won’t get the run around with each company blaming the other. I like the Actron controllers better and think the interface is much better. I like that you can turn the system on and off from each zone via the wall controller – whereas with MyAir you can’t. I like that we can have a cheaper scaled down secondary controller in the master bedroom to control the whole system, whereas with MyAir we have to have another full controller which cost $800. I don’t like that we can only have 6 zones and therefore multiple rooms would need to be combined into one zone. I’d prefer to have each room zoned separately so we can control the temperature individually. Actron can handle 8 zones – which would suffice, but I’ve been told that it can’t handle 8inch ducts / smaller rooms – therefore we’re limited to 6 zones. The Daikin / MyAir system is around $2k cheaper. $2k is a lot, but it’s not a key point as I’d rather get the right system. Can anyone shed some light as to which system is better? Help me decide I'm not an expert to tell which is best but I did some research on the internet they say actron is well built for the Australian climate.. Re: Actron or Daikin? Can’t decide. 12Jun 25, 2022 9:36 am CASSIER I would strongly recommend Daikin, we run an electrical business and we get more call outs to repair Actron systems then we do for Daikin units. This may be the case, but thats not enough data to prove it one way or another. You could get more calls for Actron because there may be only a few that repair them in your area while there may be lots of Daikin repairers around and you get less share of the calls. Could be that Actron has a larger market share in your area compared to Daikin so naturally you’d get more calls. Without proper data comparing the two, we really just don’t know if this is the case or not. Re: Actron or Daikin? I can’t really say as I’ve never owned any other brands, Personally I don’t think it’s excessively noisy. If the motor is ramping up then yeah it’s a little loud, I can hear it from my study (as it’s just behind my wall), but it’s usually only for a short runs and then it’s quite again. I think it’s fine. Re: Actron or Daikin? Can’t decide. 15Jun 25, 2022 9:46 am SaveH2O Joejoemetoo This may be the case, but thats not enough data to prove it one way or another. Agree.
