Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone Building with Inspired Homes/Strive Homes? 87Jul 19, 2021 2:14 pm Received a letter saying there will be a contract variation of $11,000 and they will pay half and we are to pay the remainder due to the timber shortage. $2750 at final stage and then another instalment of $2750 at lock up. They also sent a letter last week about boundary fire wall with another variation to pay $600. Re: Anyone Building with Inspired Homes/Strive Homes? 88Jul 19, 2021 2:17 pm Speak to Andrew and the MBA (which is the contract they are using).
Without knowing what kind of contract you have with them, I assume its still a fixed price contract and they are trying it on with you. Where are you building? Make sure you document everything with them. Re: Anyone Building with Inspired Homes/Strive Homes? 89Jul 19, 2021 2:21 pm Yep we do have a PI and looks like we will have to talk to Andrew. It's becoming a joke. When I questioned them about this fire rating and where this new increase came from, i never got a response
Re: Anyone Building with Inspired Homes/Strive Homes? 90Jul 19, 2021 2:29 pm Yes I have documented everything to this point. It's sad to be keeping tabs when all you want is this great relationship with the person your building with. I really wish we researched further into this builder. I also spoke with the domestic builders association and they relayed the same onfo as you "once it's a fixed contract they cannot add any further costs" Thank you for your support though. I really appreciate it. Re: Anyone Building with Inspired Homes/Strive Homes? 93Jul 19, 2021 2:59 pm Sheragirl Yes I have documented everything to this point. I really appreciate it. We feel your pain, there is no upside with this builder very very slow build and quality is not that great. Make sure you are on top of your build/ read and re-read your contract. Constructive engagement is the way to go. Make sure you know your rights.. Re: Anyone Building with Inspired Homes/Strive Homes? 94Jul 19, 2021 3:03 pm Annoyedcustomer We have just had handover from Evolve Living and are less than impressed with the quality of the work, the timeframe to have anything done or responded to, severe lack of communication, and how things have gone across the entire build. We are currently in the middle of arguing over things the builder built on our site without consultation about placement location and colour choices. Things that we, as owners, should have been consulted on. Inspired Homes have addressed as much as they are responsible for, and were easy enough to come to agreements with over things within their control that hadn't gone to plan. Evolve Living don't want to take responsibility for, or rectify, anything without a fight. Like others have said, we fear retribution by the builder at this stage as things are still extremely slow, (the vibe seems to be that our build is complete and they'll take their sweet time to get things fixed), and we still have 3 months to get any defects rectified... Good luck to the rest of you still with Evolve. We will be posting a VERY thorough account of our dealings once we are past the period where we can have anything resolved in the defects period. I am not surprised at all..you need to be on-top of them to get anything done. I fail to understand why they can't just get their act together. They have a great business model and big market for it. And yet they keep shooting themselves down!! Re: Anyone Building with Inspired Homes/Strive Homes? 97Jul 21, 2021 9:22 am Seanbe Make sure you reject within the time frame. Prices have gone up but not by 50%. This could be seen as price gouging. I'll take it up with the MBA as that's the contract you used. The builder could have ordered the timber frame months ago, but chose not to - that is in their control, and that the pricing of frame increases have been known for months and months would have been reflected in your contract value (or at least the risk value). This is so disappointing they are doing this. No point in a fixed price contract when you can blame the market for wrongly pricing the contract. They also have the option of building in Steel if they want. It shouldn't be yourself that bares the cost. However I'll definitely get legal advice on this now. It's a uphill battle once Inspired/Strive hands you over to their " Builder Of Choice" . Hopefully your home gets completed. @ Andrew, why is this only happening to your Evolve Living Customers? Why don't Como customers complain as much as Evolve? Why does Como build faster and Evolve extremely snail slow?? Please do what you can to ensure your Evolve Living clients get a better build experience. Re: Anyone Building with Inspired Homes/Strive Homes? 98Aug 21, 2021 7:01 pm Seanbe Those building with Evolve Living - any updates on progress... Now that we're nearing the middle of the year, have they done anything to increase the building speed or communication? Has Andrew done anything to help? Snail slow, more than 2 months gone, still waiting for the frame to be completed. We saw another Evolve site in South Eastern suburbs stuck on bricking, just the other day. No wonder they take more than a year to build. They are just too slow for this modern age. We wish we knew the build was going to take double the time other volume builders do! We would have never signed the contract, not worth the stress and other extra interest repayments trust us! They just don't give a damn because they have plenty of build days in their contract and Inspired Homes doesn't give a damn about Evolve slow build. We initially thought it was incompetence or poor project management. The reason is simple, they just don't give a damn. They have more than a year in their contract to build hence no rush, they take their sweet time to do everything!! Re: Anyone Building with Inspired Homes/Strive Homes? 99Aug 27, 2021 12:33 am Please beware of this builder and do not proceed further until a quote is finalised and building contract is drawn up and signed. After paying the initial deposit of $2500 and having the first draft of design done, we paid a further deposit of $3500 but upon submission to the council for planning permit, we needed to change the design. Como homes asked for $5000 for a change in design which we paid and got the planning permit approved. The problem was after this stage. They promised a finalised quote without any provisional costing back in Nov 2020 and in May 2021 we still hadn’t received what was promised. During those 6 months, many calls, emails and texts went unanswered. Frustrated, we called Inspired homes to mediate only to be told “We are busy so we think it is better you find another builder”, yet they refuse to refund any of the deposits paid. Basically, we paid $10500 for a preliminary drawing, months of headaches and have been left high and dry. Not once in my life, have I been denied a purchase for lack of stock or service, and not been offered a refund, have you? Re: Anyone Building with Inspired Homes/Strive Homes? 100Aug 27, 2021 12:52 pm Inspired Homes is not a builder. They are a marketing, sales and design company. I expect they would clearly explain this to their new customers before they spend any time or money? Once they have completed their design work it seems they have no further interest in the planning and constuction stages, or the finished result. I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 109509 Hi there! Putting the feelers out there for those who have (or almost) built with Arli homes! Interested in your experiences who've built from their stock home designs… 0 26589 Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 25783 |
