Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building Doulton 50 with Metricon 29Jul 08, 2021 11:07 am Noname Roy Allantos Noname im not sure what you think 9k gets you It depends on the size of the house but I'm getting a 24KW reversible ducted aircon. if thats how it truly appears in your contract, you can bet its being made up elsewhere - 9k for 24kw reverse cycle system installed is unrealistic, especially from metricon. I recently sourced a 24kw actron advance reverse cycle for ~10k from a wholesaler. Supply and install quotes for the same system were 16-19k from heating/cooling installers, 32k from builder. Yes. Im sure im paying for it with the price of the house. Re: Building Doulton 50 with Metricon 30Jul 08, 2021 1:58 pm Sparkyf That offer wasn't around when we got our house quote in Oct 2018! But we got a $30K discount and free Butler's Pantry upgrade pack (stone benchtop, overhead cupboards, tiling, sink and mixer tap)! 30K discount is a pretty good deal! well done buddy Re: Building Doulton 50 with Metricon 31Aug 10, 2021 3:50 pm Hi Prash, We are building through Metricon too and have had a lot of dreams sold to us around timeframes. We are doing a knockdown and rebuild, and the Sales person (a professional con man) suggested it would be a 6 month build - we are 8 months in after demolition and yet to start build, due to compliance matters that were not considered by Metricon. Do not believe everything they SAY - take it in Writing and hold them responsible. They are a massive business and once sales paperwork is signed, you lose control. Re: Building Doulton 50 with Metricon 33Aug 10, 2021 7:20 pm I am feeling the delay too. After rushing me to signing the doc to get price lock, things slowed down a lot. I am yet to get the final drawings and still waiting for a call on colour selection. When I chased up a few days back I am told my file is still at the sales acceptance stage. Re: Building Doulton 50 with Metricon 34Oct 21, 2021 10:58 am Hi, We are building through Metricon too. I have couple of questions. Please let me know if you have any idea about those. 1. Are we locked in to their Designer M selections or can we select items from elsewhere? As an example, I want to have our own Pendent lights and Tub which are not available on their selection. Also we want to go with Porcelain tiles, but we cannot find the tiles we are looking for in their selection list. 2. If we provide our own items, then do they Opt-out our items from their list and reduce the cost? Thanks Re: Building Doulton 50 with Metricon 35Oct 21, 2021 11:43 am Melani123 Hi, We are building through Metricon too. I have couple of questions. You can either do it after hand over or select what they have. Some builders may also allow you to select from a supplier they use, but dont stock the whole range in their show room. That said some items won't be able to be done after hand over because the areas need to be finished to obtain the occupancy certificate. - ie if you want to do tiles in wet areas after hand over, bad luck, but you can do the tiling to the main living area floor after hand over. Dark matter scientist, can breathe underwater, mind reader and can freeze matter just by willing it. Trust me, its in my sig. My build post here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=103852 Re: Building Doulton 50 with Metricon 38Dec 02, 2021 9:35 am We went with their downlights, and got batten holders in the rooms we wish to add other pendants (or a junction box in the ceiling), so at least the wiring is there! With appliances, you can have other brands, but they have to purchase and install them (can cost a lot extra). Just give them the brand and model number. We added an induction stove that we wanted, which wasn't one they offered. Missed to ask - did you consider any of their promotions ? We'd taken showcase promo - Upgrades, Aircon & Appliances, Flooring Upgrades, Hebel Rendering & Colorbond roof / streel frame. Also what's your Cut & Fill ? Butler's upgrade was stone bench, 40mm edge, overhead cupboards round sink and mixer tap. We changed the sink to a double underbench one, and upgraded the mixer to a pull-out one also. They allowed us to use the old one and round sink in leisure room, we added cupboards and made into a wet bar with bar fridge provision. They did offer colourbond roof after contract signing (due to shortages of tiles and bricks) but we said no thanks (had that on previous house, too noisy). There wasn't any other promos at the time, so all our Upgrades were costly! Cut and fill - we have 1.7M retaining wall at the back and left, and 1.5M along the right (we have 3.2M slope corner to corner), that will give you some idea. That was about 45K in the site cost!
