I'm looking to put some hardwood boards on a concrete slab - planning on putting down plastic, 19mm battens and secret nailing. I don't think I can go the 'glue the boards to the concrete' approach as the existing slab is a bit uneven. I'd probably prefer to top nail to match the rest of the house but I want to keep the total depth to minimum, the ceiling is already a bit low...
Do I need to do anything to ensure adequate ventilation in the cavity? I'd think the cavity will be basically airtight, not much opportunity for any moisture to vent.
The room is 5.2x3m, I'm contemplating putting in a small room at the end for storage but I'm undecided on this. As such, I'm thinking of flooring the entire space, then potentially later putting in a stud wall over the flooring - I'd make sure there was a batten directly under the location of the stud wall. Is this a bad idea?
