Re: Engineering costs 5Jul 01, 2021 10:57 am cejones I'm new to all this, and I'm sure this topic has been done to death, but I've had a much larger than expected quote for engineering (double). Is this something where you can look at other quotes, or is it pretty much fixed between all firms? Hey Welcome to the forum. maybe some insight into how you got this larger than expected engineering quote is warranted.ie, new build, renovation, House design change variation ,etc. Generally engineering is the least expensive when compared to the other margins added.eg Builders margin 20% of the contract Architects margin 10% of the contract price Salesman margin 3-5% of the contract price Engineers margin 1% of the contract price cejones Obviously I want the house to be safe and stable, so don't want to scrimp, but also don't want to just blindly pay if I don't need to.
