Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Current Build Times 3Jun 28, 2021 2:58 pm sifntdaz We started out build in October 2020 and things were relatively smooth. We have yet to finish, however had issues around specific supplies such as tiles and timber flooring that have had delays due to supply issues. Our builder is now suggesting that people who sign the contract and pay 5% deposit in this current climate need to wait at least 12 months before site start. Thank you for this info, good to see what is happen. Re: Current Build Times 4Jun 28, 2021 4:27 pm Among other things there is a shortage of materials across the industry at the moment. Covid impacts to various primary industry, supply chains issues coupled with the governments boost to the building industry via grants has created a bit of a "perfect storm" https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-05-22/ ... /100157774 Dark matter scientist, can breathe underwater, mind reader and can freeze matter just by willing it. Trust me, its in my sig. Re: Current Build Times 5Jun 29, 2021 7:46 pm Readytogiveup Hello So I'm after some outside information on whether the industry is so busy no-one is meeting any contractual agreements or has our builder taken on more work than they can handle and we now have to pay the price for this. Well into the process of trying to start our build. What is fair and reasonable build time at the moment. 290 days into the process, four months since we signed our contract, three months since we paid our 5% deposit and 20 days post all certificates received. Response to date, we are too busy to keep to our contract deadlines. Nothing has started at all. What are other peoples experiences in the current climate? Thanks Hi. We are very similar to your situation. We signed contract end February still waiting to start building. Of course builders are blaming a lot on COVID however I do believe with all the government incentives for building grants etc the builders were being inundated with work and some builders have taken on too much work! So frustrating! They seemed to conveniently forget to mention how long it would take to start building before we signed contract and taking our money. We are in Brisbane! Re: Current Build Times 6Jun 29, 2021 7:59 pm I have more a more detailed breakdown of our timeline but at a high level; 29/07/20 - Plan Fee paid 01/10/20 - Signed Contract Tender ... Xmas break ... 05/02/21 - Construction started with a 130 business day construction period 30/06/21 - PCI walkthrough with SS So from breaking ground to handover we are looking at roughly 5 months, give or take. Follow my build here: https://www.instagram.com/ivy5custom Hi Minho I have heaps of experience in Ku-ring-gai with both DAs and CDC ( this is the main area we build in). DA's are taking 12-18months and CDC's we have been doing… 1 13732 We are having a bathroom reddone. The builders are putting down two coats of waterproofing and then screed and then another coat of waterproofing. This is what I have been… 0 13140 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 59157 |
