Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Wall Tiles - installation upto ceiling - Post Handover 3Jun 23, 2021 3:34 pm with regards to the initial sticker shock, its do do with builders factoring square set plaster into the locations that will have floor to ceiling tiles. The tiling itself is not a huge upgrade cost. Not being a tiler i don't know why it cant just be done up to the cornice or if it would look terrible etc, but I imagine there would be some challenges doing it that way however there is a solution to this if you like square set plaster. Have the whole house square set. On aper room basis it works out cheaper. I can imagine doing tiling to match existing tiling a PITA and may not line up and match perfectly. Also tile batches can differ in colour too.... Dark matter scientist, can breathe underwater, mind reader and can freeze matter just by willing it. Trust me, its in my sig. Re: Wall Tiles - installation upto ceiling - Post Handover 4Jun 23, 2021 3:48 pm Thanks Harris. Our Builder is charging us around $6k for Bathroom Wall tiles UP TO Shower level (1900mm) - not even ceiling. So i expect if i get them to tile upto ceiling (31c - 2.6m) it will be close to $10k+. And the bathrooms are not even that big in size. The biggest is Ensuite 55msq, Bathroom 20msq and powder room 10msq. And these Msq include the shower areas, the mirror/vanity areas as well. So technically, the extra wall Msq they’ll be covering (outside of their standard level) is not that much. So im surprised they charging so much. I also calculated based on the tiles cost itself (ie if we obtain tiles for 55msq + 20msq + 10msq = 85msq) its going to cost around $4k only. Obviously we wouldnt need tiles for the full 85msq (as the builders will cover shower as per their standard level). They cover all the wet areas which is minimum standard they would need to maintain for compliance. He told me about $5500 additional cost as an upgrade for 3 bathrooms. Who is your builder? Re: Wall Tiles - installation upto ceiling - Post Handover 11Jun 25, 2021 3:16 pm I'm building with BGC in WA. They are meant to be one of the low cost builders out here! $5500 sounds acceptable Harris Most of the tilers I've reached out to have said it will be difficult and will need to remove shower screens, toilet etc out and also any existing tiles if they are not aligned (to how a full wall tile would be) - basically a bit difficult to just carry on tilling up to ceiling from where builder has stopped. Kind of disappointing. Some even suggested better to go with Builder doing complete job as otherwise I would end up doing everything twice! Anyways, I've asked for quote from builder for full tiling up to ceiling. They quoted $6K for up to 1900mm. Maybe they will give me a surprise present with their quote!! Can only hope They make the room much easier to clean for one, reflect more light (if light colour tiles are used), and you dont end up with dust on the top edge of tiles (cause most… 3 9537 It sounds like you have a crack in your garage where the wall meets the ceiling, along the shadow line on the… 0 17126 Hi, Currently building, we are on a sloping block so we have from floor level to the roof in axon cladding.
