Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Engineered oak flooring 4May 10, 2021 10:28 pm We did European oak flooring 12mm. Not sure if I put photos in our thread, can take some more if you’re interested. Scratches easy, have a few minor dents where we’ve dropped items, however due to the Matt finish you don’t really see them. We moved in about 18 months ago. We’ve got 3 kids, 13, 10 and 2. I’d definitely do it again. We’ve got family who do those vinyl planks and there’s looks awful after 2 years. Discoloured and very scratched. Re: Engineered oak flooring 5May 11, 2021 11:50 am Weve also done engineered oak flooring, weve been in for 4 months and there isn’t a scratch (adult kids no pets), easy to clean, love it! We have noted it is changing colour which we were advised would happen in the first 6 months as it acclimatises. Re: Engineered oak flooring 7May 11, 2021 12:41 pm Check out our build. I've got photos on page 9. I really should update will more recent stuff we've done since moving in. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=94245&start=160 Re: Engineered oak flooring 8May 30, 2021 4:02 pm realjian G’day all, has any one had any experience with engineered oak flooring? In particular Australian select timber’s grand oak Nobel collection and preference flooring prestige oak. We fell in love with both but the Australian select timber is 20% cheaper than preference flooring. Any thoughts and experience on how they holding against kids and pets. Cheers! Hi realiian, Did you end up using preference flooring prestige oak? I am considering that.. yes AST is cheaper not sure why there are big difference in price. Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15840 Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors. But I'm not sure… 3 6085 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6148 |
