If you aren't going to have a rack ans server running then it's a good location. Central location for the wifi router. Re: Data Cabling - Hampshire 45A - Metricon 8Apr 15, 2021 1:24 pm Kotex Hello, I got a question on data cabling. Appreciate your inputs. Can the NBN connection point in the garage of the standard plan be moved to a different position ? I am thinking moving central Data Return (DR) to closer to a void (ground floor and first floor), so that future data wiring can be done easily. thanks Different builder for me but I had no issue asking to move all my incoming connections to a different point in the garage - went from the external wall to the internal wall next to the internal entry. When my parents built they had it put in the void under the stairs along with a full server rack for home automation. I am thinking asking two provision for ceilings in both floors, central to the house ? Do we need power for those as well ? These days the Mesh wifi system are pretty good, considering saving the money on the provision and buy a good mesh device after you move in. You may notice the humming of the fan from the server and the switch that could be annoying. Should be fine, i'll be using the top shelf of the cupboard to hold the equipment rather than a rack so i'll be using a standard form server instead a noisier rack mounted one. I'll also only have an 8 port gigabit router in there so it shouldnt make much noise, I've got a data run and power for a second router in the roof cavity to handle the data runs for POE security cameras. the WIL also backs onto the WIP on one end and the hallway on the other so area's that don't matter much if theres some noise bleed.
