Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 11, 2021 11:43 am Hi, I recently went for my colour selection appointment and my preference for the kitchen was YDL Calacatta Combo for the benches and splashback and polytec black wenge for the cabinetry. Both my partner and the colour selection consultant preferred either polytec matt black or black woodmatt to be paired with the Calacatta stone. The colour consultant thought the black wenge would be too busy. Flooring will be most likely be natural hickory engineered timber. What are your thoughts on this colour pairing? Re: Colour Clash 3Jun 09, 2021 8:43 pm Thanks for the response. All my cabinetry is going to be the Polytec Black woodmatt (bottom right). The left two samples are actually YDL engineered stone, although the Calacutta Combo is only shown as a print in the sample (bottom left). I went for the Calacutta Combo look stone in all areas except the laundry. The top left one is YDL Bianco Gentle, that is going to be my laundry benchtop. It didn't seem worth upgrading to the Calacutta in the laundry. I also went for the YDL Calacutta stone for my kitchen and butlers pantry. Re: Colour Clash 4Jun 10, 2021 10:13 am Oh! Good job with the Polytec and the Calacutta! It's a good combination. Well, it is just laundry so yeah, you're right, that's enough already. What's your floor though? If your bottom cabinets and floor are both dark, I suggest going with a lighter paint color or introduce more lightness or light colors so it won't be overpowered by the dark colors. My floor in the kitchen, dining, etc will be a natural hickory engineered timber. My bathrooms will have cinder coloured stone look tiles. The walls will be painted in white on white. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7143 Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this.
