If you still want to build singlehanded, possibly the easiest option will be to go with Hebel blocks on a relatively lightweight foundation. You would still have to hire roof carpenters, although the roof design itself can be very simple and relatively cheap e.g. skillion type. For internal walls you can always consider buying some metal studs in Bunnings and attaching gyprock to them. Or you can use Hebel blocks too. If you go with owner builder license, you would only legally require to use licensed plumbers and electricians, the rest you can do yourself. This I will keep In mind, is it hard to get a owner builder license and any idea on approx price i have to pay for it. Never heard of Hebel blocks I will have to research them and do a cost analysis and compare all my options as time goes on and i learn enough there is no rush but i feel a calling too it. I would love to pour a slab and then builde air crete panels as walls and do the roof myself, do you think.that is possible? Sorry if I am hard to understand I just got baked I'm on the medicinal cannabis scheme for anxiety Re: Alternative building/housing bubble help a young guy out 5Nov 05, 2020 3:57 pm Haha. Owner builder license is not hard to get If you do not have carpentry experience, I would still use licensed carpenters for roofing. But laying Hebel blocks is not hard and you can probably do it yourself (once you get off cannabis). Re: Alternative building/housing bubble help a young guy out 6Nov 05, 2020 3:57 pm aussieta sounds like you need to move to nimbin you will fit right in If only I could get a block worth 80 grand there with power and water close by. Also I don't know how good work is around there. I used to go to nimbin all of the time brother and played up for years and actually went to prison for supply of cocaine. Now I just got to work and train and keep to myself and would love to spend time gardening intensively and working as little as possible and just enjoy family life. I have a uncle at lismore and i am from around tamworth nsw. Lismore had a few decent blocks of land. I wonder I'll have a look nimbin way, have friends at casino. But I am in cairns qld at the moment, and I wish I could get a block here for now see some for around the right price close to town like a 20 min drive to work and center of town and the coast, and world class restraunts, so good. Haha cheers for advice my friend, I have built a little bit of framing and pallets and plywood construction I would probably just hire a guy to come help me it would be relatively small and as simple as possible. I also use very little and use 20 bucks worth every 2 weeks it's very little, I excersize sprints touch footy and home.gym.bodybuilding and go to work. Thanks so much for your reply it means alot Re: Alternative building/housing bubble help a young guy out 8Nov 05, 2020 6:48 pm alexp79 Haha. Tbh I had a look and I would prefer aircrete because it is so much less laying bricks it's more just put up 20 panels ect. Vs 1000s of bricks Re: Alternative building/housing bubble help a young guy out 9Feb 25, 2022 10:18 am HI Buddy, Have you heard of Grass Roots magazine? get your self a copy or two from your local library.
