It may be bleed water staining that a light acid wash before sealing will fix. The cracking actually looks like the mesh is to close to the surface. The cracking is very uniform and I can almost see a grid pattern that would indicate that concrete wasn't thick enough for the chairs used or they have just booked the mesh up and lifted it to high. Thanks chippy - the colour was applied by the contractor. There are other cracks which are not uniform that was just one example. Re: Concrete advice 4Oct 21, 2020 7:46 am Hey everhopeful Welcome back to the forum There appears to be a number of issues I do recommend you use a Bosch Concrete Scanner here Bosch D-Tect 150 SV Scanner to determine the reinforcement placement depth Pity you didn't have the job inspected and photographed before the concrete was poured. Over time the cracking will get worse and eventually the concrete will spall when the mesh rusts....certainly not acceptable by any standards Things that can effect your driveway build are 1.The soil type 2.Compaction 3.Soil moisture and weather conditions 4.Concrete thickness 5.Reinforcement Placement 6.Poor workmanship and concrete mix 7.Insufficent workers on site during the pour 8.Lack of technical data and specifications Concrete is one of those items that needs to be properly inspected the ability to rectify problems while the concrete truck is waiting is minimal Cheers Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Concrete advice 5Oct 21, 2020 8:10 am StructuralBIMGuy Hey everhopeful Welcome back to the forum There appears to be a number of issues I do recommend you use a Bosch Concrete Scanner here Bosch D-Tect 150 SV Scanner to determine the reinforcement placement depth Pity you didn't have the job inspected and photographed before the concrete was poured.
