Hi,
I have my eye on a 27m wide North facing block so have been looking at plans that would fit best. I am already aware of passive heating cooling etc.
But I wondered about an outdoor Alfresco area. Should this be at the back facing south, west or east?? Would east be too cold and west too hot?
Thought maybe just across the whole back and then we can add in block out blinds to the western side of it.
What are your thoughts?

I am on the south coast NSW and put our Alfresco area on the southern side. I am not a sun seeker. I would strongly advise against West facing. The afternoon sun is harsh. Our deck runs full width of our house, and I will be screening the western side. East is an option if morning coffee is your thing. Maybe visit some of your neighbours on a warm arvo and get a feel for it that way You're a little late to the party. You really should have thought of this before purchasing your block.
