Ventilation solution for dryer

Hi all,

Just like to know what people generally do for dryer in their laundry space. I wouldn't necessarily have the duct behind the dryer hooked up to a vent but was thinking down the line of having a fan in the laundry that hooked up to pvc pipe in the ceiling space with an external vent.

For the money you spend to do it properly, you are better off upgrading to a heat pump drier.

Heat pump drier expels water rather than steam. No fogging, no damp, drains via a tube into the same drain as the washer.

Cheap as chips to run compared to a conventional drier

As a mid point, you can also get condensing dryers, they are no where near as expensive as heatpump as they are still resistive element based, but they condense all the water out so you can just let the air flow back into the house. Mine was about $800 at the time, but it was a few years back now.

Yes you are absolutely wasting your time and money trying to get a proper ventilation setup for a standard drier. You need supply air as well as extraction.

Heat pump is a no-brainer.
