Simple bathroom/laundry would be minimum $10k eack Kitchen depending on size and appliances $20k Flooring difficult to say. Depends if you need to rip up existing floor and how many metres. I'd think probably budget $70k all up for decent spec. I'm not saying it can't be done for your $50k budget but there would need some compromises somewhere or they would need to be very small spaces. Is it better if we get all the trades by ourself instead of getting builder to arrange Re: Builder recommendation 5Aug 31, 2020 8:29 pm If you are confident, competent and have the time then you could organise everything yourself. There are a few issues with doing it yourself. Firstly, you have to find all your own trades. That can be a struggle for some and trusting who you get. Secondly, the job will often take longer as a builder or reno company tend to line all the trades up so it's quick. When people do it on your own they tend to get one trade, then organise the next trade then the next so it spreads the job out. Thirdly, if you go alone some trades will just do exactly what you tell them to do even if they know it's not the best way to do it or down right wrong. You might get good trades who will help guide you through the process but some guys will just expect to be told exactly what to do. That's where experience comes into it. There are a number of other little things but they are probably the biggest hurdles. Sometimes you will get lucky and have a very smooth easy reno, other times you'll wish you paid to get it organised.
