Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 23, 2020 9:41 pm Does anyone know if there's a major diff. b/n R2 and R2.5 wall insulation. Apparently min. recommended R value in Melbourne is 2.5. But cost saving is significant if I choose to go with R2.0. Is it worth spending the extra money for R2.5 insulation. Similarly with roof insulation, they reckon R5 minimum for dark roofs. Anyone care to comment based on experience etc.? Cheers, Re: Wall insulation 2Jul 24, 2020 10:27 am Yes that seems to be the recommendation but not sure if it's mandated. Melbourne is in Climate zone 6 but even the biggest name builders only provide R4.0 for roofs and R2.0 for walls. I've seen a couple of smaller builders have R3.5 for their walls. There are a few benefits to that.
