Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Apr 09, 2020 10:45 pm Hi all Need advice for a pool that was filled in many years ago but area not maintained - partial removal still has some concrete around edges - the fill is full on clay soil and ground not levelled 1. I want to level and put down ready grown turf 2. Please see current photo no drainage after rain 3. If I cleaned up area is it enough to level and put 6inches of top soil on then lay turf 4. Doing that would it just become a boggy grassed area ?? Would appreciate advice please Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Inground pool already filled in - problems 2Apr 10, 2020 6:37 am Few moving parts here: It's unclear if the water in the image is because of the soil type and the depression in the ground OR if the ground is failing to drain because the pool shell is still holding water. First question - was the pool just filled in or demolished properly, ie. broken up prior to being filled in? If the concrete wasn't broken up, that can be an issue. Second - if there's any concrete near the surface, it will need to be removed so you can install agipipe or drainage (if nessesary) and so your grass can thrive. As far as I can tell from the image, it looks like the pool has been properly demoed. You'll need to move the debris and then need to fill the hole and make sure the surface water can go somewhere. Then, throw down Gypsum (heaps of gypsum as it breaks down clay and improves the soil), 70-100mm of underturf and order the grass from a broker. I have done a few yards and have always found it easier to use a landscaping contractor. Laying turf is tough work and they can do all your clean up, leveling etc and lay and roll turf for you. If you're going to use a contractor, budget $15 per sqm for prep and $7 per sqm for winter green grass or $7-20 for nicer grasses. The fact that they previously approved your 25sqm patio will be irelevant 1 5500 I am not a brick expert, but rendering would be 1 option, it would be costly to do the entire house though.... 2 6673 |
