We got our site start date yesterday - 30 March. Finally things getting real! Yes the electricals are a cash cow - we spent even more but didn't cut back on things so kept the pendants etc Beaumonts was a pleasant surprise - so much so that we added the patio tiling in at a very good rate... Hey Magpie, Has Coral changed anything in regards to your build because of this Covid-19 situation or are things business as usual? Have a meeting onsite Monday afternoon with supervisor. Verbal and email advice from him and Coral to date have confirmed that despite COVID-19 building continues. Supply chain is assured with minor exception of non-critical pieces that will not delay build and aren't required until almost completion stage. For now anyway... Government advice and restrictions if they get even tighter may restrict builders in that they may be directed to stay at home in which case things will definitely turn into a smelly mess... So, so far business as usual and fingers crossed it stays that way. Re: Coral Homes Grange 22 Build - QLD 28Mar 27, 2020 10:18 am We also received our final plans today and once signed we will be given a start date (2 weeks away), I'm concerned about the 181 day in the building contract. Where if construction takes over 181 days you start paying $50 per day until completion and I'm unsure if it's waived due to a pandemic, I emailed head office but haven't received an answer yet. Please let me know when they reply. They're probably in discussion right now as to what to do, it would be sh*tty of them to not change a thing due to this rare circumstance. They pay you $50 per day. And I am sure if there is a lock down in Australia, they will add those days of lock down to the end of the contract before they have to start paying you. They can add on days for other delays, like weather so would assume they can add days for covid-19. We built a Grange 25 and it took 16 weeks. Re: Coral Homes Grange 22 Build - QLD 31Mar 27, 2020 3:00 pm Hi, I have just received this email from head office. At this stage, we are business as usual, until otherwise advised by the government. If there were to be any delays, we would need to wait to be addressed by the HIA as to what the process would be and we would then filter that information down to our clients accordingly. Apologies that I cannot give you a more specific answer at this time, but I am sure you can appreciate that this is a new circumstance for all of us. Colour appointment is done... only added another $845 (approx) in upgrades, the majority of it was upgrading to a 7" touch screen for the ducted air-con ($705) because honestly the other one looked old, just our opinion. The other upgrades were to a bigger towel rail for the other bathroom, which was $20 or so, and upgrading to a different finish on our bathroom vanities, $60 for each vanity. (Plus husbands shorts and hairy leg ) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ These are a bunch of our colours, you can see our Beaumont tile samples, the one to the right is our floor tiles. The bigger Dulux samples are our wall paint, the darker for the walls, and lighter for doors and skirting etc. The White Laminex one is for our top kitchen cupboards. The light woodeny looking sample is what the colour of our bathroom vanities will be. On top of our floor tile is our laundry selections, a marbelly laminate effect for the benchtop and then light grey for the cupboards. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ For the outside, we have light bricks, dark window frames, a wood effect garage door and the roof.. we have since changed to the colour monument (a dark charcoal colour), we had to get permission from our developer to choose it. ALSO... WE FINALLY GOT FORMAL APPROVAL ON FINANCE 01/04/2020... omg what a hassle during Covid-19, but we got there. I hope you're all doing well and staying safe! We were given covenant approval on Tuesday 14/04/2020. Had a bit of back and forward with the developer head, because I asked permission to have the darker colour Monument, which they came back and said you can have a dark colour we recommend either Shale Grey or Evening Haze in our design guidelines (Which had the colour swatch as Basalt and Monument, so the swatches had the wrong name)... so as you can imagine we had to explain that they weren't the true colours ladida... Eventually we got our approval, and they're re-doing the guidelines No idea how they hadn't picked up on that earlier.
