Browse Forums Building A New House Re: NARROW LOT - SINGLE VS DOUBLE 2Feb 28, 2020 10:47 pm RagRad We have a 300sqm lot and are pretty unsure about whether we want to go single or double story(we are OK with our finances and can afford the double with a bit of stretching). I love the convenience, ease of maintenance(that's me in my mid-40s talking) and close contact with family on a single story(1 garage, 4 beds with a home theatre) but I am also concerned that my currently 8 and 14 yr old kids might want more space in the future. Has anyone pulled this off on a narrow single story or did you have any regrets choosing one over the other? While this is already bugging me, I have also been warned that if the neighbor's around me build the double story and I build a single, the resale value of my house will be impacted and that I should definitely go double if I can afford it. However if we had two teenage kids I would look at double story so you can do zones, with a large enough activity room for the kids to hang. Thanks again for this information. If you do hear anything different, would be great to know 4 8242 dimensions on your original plan are inconsistent and with accurate dimensions (including site plan, upstairs and down) i could make a proper scale drawing with furniture… 3 7516 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27712 |
