Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 27, 2020 8:52 pm Hi there, We are at the end of our build with Aveling Homes in WA and have had our PC inspection over a week ago with all issues raised now rectified. At the time we mentioned the plan to have our flooring done by an outside contractor next week and no issues were raised with this. Unfortunately it took Aveling's accounts team 2 more business days than they told us it would to issue our final account and as such we lost several days in getting the signed approvals to our bank. We are now in a position where the flooring contractor is booked out for 2 months and our move into the home will be delayed significantly if we can't get the flooring done next week as planned. Our mortgage broker advised us that usually builders he deals with allow contractors onsite once we have signed off on the final payment (which we have done). However, the builder is stating that our flooring cannot start next week as planned due to their insurance in the period between now and our final handover meeting. I'm just hoping to determine what the usual process is and whether others have been allowed to have crucial contractors start work on their home prior to handover? Our builders had previously said it shouldn't be an issue for a contractor to start onsite prior to handover, but have now retracted this stating insurance issues. Our build has been an administrative nightmare over the last 18 months and this just feels like yet another avoidable headache. What has others experiences been? Shouldn't be that much and all parties get what they want out of it. Always get multiple quotes, no matter how reasonable/cheap you think it is. I remember getting a few quotes for a pool fence, roughly around the same price, thinking the… 5 9688 "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 23914 i would suggest nothing is unreasonable for PCI. we did all sorts, including checking the hot water, checking all the GPO's had power, testing that the showers were… 9 98693 |
