I can see air voids, hence the porosity, below the surface the acid wash and water would have removed the trowelled surface exposing the poor workmanship I'm guessing you don't have the engineering notes/specification for the drive way Strength, Slump, Compaction, vibration, joints, etc would have been hi-lighted for the Concretor? If not then it's buyer beware and always have the concrete placement inspected On the other hand, check with QBCC Cheers Chris Re: Exposed Agg specialist 17Feb 17, 2020 3:02 pm No need to guess what actually went wrong as it's a combination effect ie initial set, lack of compaction/vibration and the concrete should have been inspected What matters happened on the day the concrete was being poured and you weren't prepared for that and I doubt you had the engineering drawings, specifications, notes and it was't Inspected by your engineer.... so you will never know? Lodge a complaint with the QBCC, sorry, but I don't like your chances.
