We have limited space, so have been thinking about doubling up our HT room as the children's family play room (as from the kitchen I should be able to look into the room). As I am quite new to the whole building game, I'm not quite up on the terminology. Was just wondering if there were any useable options with sliding walls (or moveable walls), that are soundproof for a home theatre? The reason why I wanted moveable walls was to be able to open it up when it wasn't being used as a HT. Do you think it is achievable. Hubby would love to have a dedicated HT room (aprox 6x4m), but during the day as a dedicated HT, it just wouldn't be used. Would love to make it as multi-functional as possible. thanks in advance It's achievable but how much are you willing to spend? I'd imagine movable walls similar to this kind of hardware http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2009/01/hong_ ... ent-2.html Re: Sliding walls for HT 4Mar 18, 2009 4:11 pm I don't think cavity sliders will open it up the way short_stuff means.
To completely open it, could this be achieved with a wall of bifolds? That's proabaly the most cost effective way... someone suggested this in another thread, not my idea! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Sliding walls for HT 5Mar 19, 2009 3:45 am I'm keen on something similar...
Can you get sound proof bi-folds? After 2 false starts, a year living overseas, two more world trips and 3 years of uncertainty we are now starting the build process again - hopefully for real this time! Re: Sliding walls for HT 6Mar 19, 2009 5:58 am At work we have collapsable walls.. work really well and cut out the sound really well... basically like bi fold doors that keep folding back into each other.. when the wall is up you turn a key device thing to lock the wall in place, this also pushes rubber things up to the ceiling and floor to secure any gaps making it quite sound proof. Re: Sliding walls for HT 7Mar 19, 2009 10:58 am This supplier does it all.
http://www.lotusdoors.com.au/ If you want bifold doosr then we have double glazed ones, but they let in the light and need either a small step or to be cut into the floor.
