Clients rarely understand and then question engineering 2. Structural upgrades are big ticket items, unlike door handles and cupboards which you can change over later 3.The Engineering is conveniently left after PPA, that is after the initial deposit is handed over...come in spinner Finally, there is only one thing worse then being ripped off with the price and that is getting a " Pea soup job" with cracks forming in your slab Here's a tip, Lean concrete, max steel for shrinkage control, have the slab and pour inspected, , etc, etc. Put the builder on notice you are paying top dollar so expect a top job OT Even $50m dollar perth mansions aren't immune, make sure your slab is properly checked/inspected or you will have a daily permanent reminder upstairs Cheers Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Polished Concrete in New Build 5Nov 27, 2020 12:10 pm AnjC Hello We're just finalising pre-start and have a quote for polished concrete - it nearly caused palpitations! Now I know polished concrete is expensive, but I've seen on these sites that I should expect about $120 per sq m. Is that right for the WA Market? TBH I was expecting to pay about that much. Our requirement is for approx 125sqm on the second floor of a (yet to be built) new build - our builder has quoted us about $200 per sq m. If I engage someone separately to do my concrete after handover, what should I tell my builder about the slab preparation (as I understand it's important to get the slab right in the first instance)? Should I engage someone after handover? Thanks! Do you have a photo of what you're after? Polished concrete (if just surface polished) we can do as low as $60-80. If you need full mechanical grind so that stones are exposed throughout the slab, this requires few more stages and can go up to $120 or $160 as worst case scenario. $200 is just pulling the p1ss. Drop me a message or email if you need someone to get this done at more affordable rates. Can be done after handover but ideally if you can get the builder to agree to get the first stage of smoothing out the slab just prior to cabinets go in would be ideal. I had new concrete laid, extended the alfresco and had the sidewalks concreted too. I noticed the concreter didn't put the expansion foam anywhere, there are expansion… 0 8117 yep, clearly mark where the infloor heating pipes are before drilling or nailing 1 6057 |
