Hey ksun1985 - are you doing an "owner-builder" in Victoria (Melbourne)? You already own the land? Which area? Have you gone thru all the processes below? You have your 'white card' already? https://www.vba.vic.gov.au/owner-builders https://www.vba.vic.gov.au/__data/asset ... -Guide.pdf https://www.worksafe.vic.gov.au/constru ... white-card 'White Card' training providers in Melbourne VIC : One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven Re: Project Manager Melbourne 4Jan 19, 2020 12:22 pm AdsF Can anyone recommend any project managers in Melbourne [VIC] to build a new house? Yes I have the land ready to go, it's in Hawthorn East. I'm probably still about 3-6 months away before I can break ground so trying to do some research and see if I owner build with the assistance of a builder friend (to try save money), OR just give the project to a builder entirely and not worry about the day to day process. Will be going through the OB process, white card etc if I choose that route. Are you in a similar position? Am interested to also do so, but not sure how to do all the requirements and get it going for the X number of weeks. Thinking its probably best to use a builder. With a builder its looking like about a $250,000 spend and then someone notified me that 'owner builder' can save about 30% to 36% meaning house will cost $160,000 - $175,000 Re: Project Manager Melbourne 8Jan 20, 2020 7:00 pm AdsF TeslaCyberTruck AdsF Can anyone recommend any project managers in Melbourne [VIC] to build a new house? Hey AdsF - did you find a Melbourne (VIC) based PM (project manager)? No i didn't. Chose to do it myself. You have already started and well on the way? Which area are you building in? Do you have someone in-person advising you who has building experience? Is the save (compared to using a volume builder) really in the 30% to 36%+ range? How did you learn all the things that have to be done and who exactly to hire and which insurances and permits to get? They get better buying power. Now if you have your own plans and you want extras (that most volume builders wont do) then its worth going down the path of owner builder. Be mindfull getting finance is not easy. You will get a better home but not necessarily save a lot of money. I have done it previously and it takes a lot, a lot of your time. I done my own plans just got my building permit so hopefully start very soon. Building in Vic western suburbs. If you want more info pm me more then happy to go through it with you. If you need to pay for a project manager you would be well advised to just engage a builder who would take full responsibility for the build.
