Hi, been a while since posting here, moved into our new build 18mths ago. Just a question someone here may have experienced or can advise.
We had a problem with a terrible sewer smell in the kitchen, plumbers came out a few times - smell not always there - eventually put a new trap filter thing under the sink in case it was faulty - it wasn’t, the smell continued. We could smell it when we opened kitchen drawers or coming through sink drains. Finally the plumbers capped off internal trap under sink and ran a pipe (stink pipe?) outside the kitchen window up the side of a Merbau post on our deck.
The problem is we can still smell it, only on days where there is no wind or it is wet out. Guessing smell coming in through air vents from outside?
My question is, is this normal? Do new builds all have a stink pipe outside? We are on town sewerage. Not sure what the alternative is.
