So it's not for the right reasons. The cut and fill is going to make my land and my neighbours a 1m height difference, so it's not a major difference. A 1 metre difference in slab height is quite noticeable depending on the block size. I'm sure that it may need to be engineered too. Will the retaining wall need to installed on your boundary? I will see what the landscaper and engineers opinion is for the timing of wall. If it is okay to do after handover or before slab but after cut and fil. As MJH have control of the site it will be up to them to decide when the retaining wall is built. If it's required before a slab can be poured you will have to do it now. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 14413Dec 18, 2019 8:34 am stevenboh Kery_deep Depends on what is needed. If you need before the builder will inform you. Majority retaining walls are built after. The nearby lots can affect after being cut & filled during the built. Always good to built after as situations change by the end of a built. Outerwest If your land is not stable after they cut and fill then you will have to do a retaining wall before they start to build ..That is usually after your slab is done. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 14414Feb 11, 2020 11:09 pm Are retaining walls generally built on the boundary? The certifier requesting that I build it wholly within my property. But when the fence eventually gets built, I would have through it would be built on top of the retaining wall, on the boundary Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 14415Feb 11, 2020 11:43 pm If both the neighbours need to retain, the wall needs to be on the boundary so the cost also is shared. But if you are doing it yourself it has to be entirely Within your boundary. If you have enough room behind the wall the fence can go on the boundary, but this depends on the fall and if suitable to building the fence. We are doing the same. We have an egline between the boundary & our retaining wall but we can still put a fence on the boundary following the slope. Totally on the situation. We are building a single storey, started site excavation 22/01/20 and now up to plastering stage It feels like it will all be done in another 2 months meaning a quick 4 month build time ! Your build sounds like it's going ahead very quickly, and its looking great! We'd love if ours was completed in 4 months! We have a contract date in October for completion, but hoping it will be a bit sooner than that. All the best with it!
