Our custom builder recently demo’d a character house, the owners didn’t want any of the features, so the builder removed them and has them in storage. If this had been done before our build I would have bought some off him and had them installed in our house! But yes, the windows are probably not energy efficient, but you could use them internally and they would look beautiful. As an aside, we have an energy efficient build too, and the windows (DG, low-e, blah blah) really do make an amazing difference![quote] Thanks for the idea. I didn’t think about using them internally. We have very nice ceiling decorations as well, but im pretty sure these are not transferable. I’m sure there will be few other interesting things to save there. Im a thrift junkie so it will be hard to let go of these things for le. lol My hubby wont be happy as he probably will need to remove all these bits and pieces. Do you mind to share what exact type of windows you’ve got. Are they good for noise reduction as well? Thx KDR in perth 8Nov 02, 2019 12:36 pm Our windows (double hung, slider, louvre and awning), French doors and bifold doors are from AVS Windows and Doors (we’re in Sydney). Wonderfully solid. You can check out my build thread for pics if you like. The DG helps with noise reduction definitely, but we also have lots of insulation. When the internal wall insulation went in the drop in noise carrying was very noticeable. Will def invest into noise reduction! Re: KDR in perth 10Nov 02, 2019 12:40 pm I know the feeling! When the kids are running about upstairs it’s like a herd of elephants. So we got hebel flooring in the new build We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 38479 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 19842 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 14114 |
