We were very worried about the noise, so put an acoustic underlay under the laminate and also soundscreen insulation between the floors. It is surprisingly quiet, much better than I was expecting. We don't really hear normal footsteps downstairs at all, but do hear when the kids jump around playing indoor basketball in their rooms (I don't think anything would prevent that!). It cost a few thousand $ extra This is the floor https://www.surfacesbyhynes.com.au/products/laminate-flooring/12mm-long-board-laminate/130-artesan-range Timber frame? Which design? What location did you build? Do you have photos of the end result? Re: Upper floor - Floating timber / engineered timber floor 6Oct 30, 2019 8:28 am Great photos. What timber flooring brand and model is it? Re: Upper floor - Floating timber / engineered timber floor 7Oct 30, 2019 8:56 am It is this one in Cream, it was an upgrade from the standard laminate. I wanted to go timber, but lost that negotiation. A lot of people think it is timber when seeing it https://www.surfacesbyhynes.com.au/products/laminate-flooring/12mm-long-board-laminate/130-artesan-range Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors. But I'm not sure… 3 6702 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 16736 Thanks, that's the motivation I needed to give it a try sooner rather than one day! 4 3372 |
