Without seeing your engineering drawings I'd say that the slab on the right is over an open plan area and as such is often 258mm (3 course) to take the span. We had a mix of 172mm (2 course) across smaller spans but required 258 across our open plan living in our last house that I owner built. Changes in ceiling height won't be in obvious places, it will change either side of an opening. As BIM guy said. The structural steel reinforcement should have been inspected by the structural engineer and signed off. Your builder should have this. Thanks, you quite right, the right side is an open plan.
