We checked measurements and door or window schedule, but is there anything specific we need to review? First time building and these are very new to us. Do doors and windows open right way? Are light switches now covered by doors if you have made changes? Are window heights in the rooms correct? Are all windows the same if they were meant to be? Check door heights if you raised ceiling height. Location of shower taps if you moved them so you don't get wet turning them on. Bathroom niche sizes are correct. What does it look like where the island meets the tiles? and what order will they do things? We are only at pre-linings (inspection with SS booked next week) and gyprock booked for Thurs!! very excited. We will walk through with our plans, electrical and Sentinel. Are there any tips, those of you who have passed this stage, you can provide to optimise this site visit? Feeling a bit overwhelmed about the volume of things to check and want to get it right. Inspector has provided report which WH has actioned (but will check that all of these have been covered during our visit). Kitchen will be installed and then floors tiled around it. Will have grout around your kitchen bench and then silicon if needed. Your kicks are the same time as your cabinetry. For your electrical walkthrough print out a copy of your plan and go through room by room. Cross off on your copy when you have double checked it on your walkthrough. Ensure wall switches are where you want them. Also check for any reinforcement requested for pendant lights/fans or wall hung tv’s. Take your time and just walk through room by room. Don’t let anyone rush you Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 14971Sep 07, 2019 9:46 pm Manhattan52 becks81 I was wondering how the kitchen island installation, kicks and tiling usually work? I actually don't remember paying much attention to it when visiting the show homes. What about the height at which things are installed? What is it measured against? given there is no flooring yet. We only have a few things specified to be installed at a particular height. I have my pre-lining appointment next week Tuesday and Gyprock starting Wednesday/Thursday. I’m planning to print out my electrical and walk through with it to ensure all is in order. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 14973Sep 08, 2019 7:13 am becks81 grout looks just fine around kitchen. Grout lines are so small you won’t notice it. Your benches will be 20mm typically higher to accomodate this. The measurements will be off unfinished floor so slab. Hope that helps? I will get a photo during the week for you as mine should be finished this week. It has been a whole month of tiling! You won’t have access during Yes you are correct, Wisdom confirmed no site access before or during build. We have decided to still do after handover as I have a few local landscaper prelim quotes for much more wallet friendly costs. We are only after very standard levelling and turf at this point due to budget constraints Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 14976Sep 08, 2019 5:19 pm sv_reddy Hi, Have any of you gone with slimline rain water tank? if yes, what are the costs and what is the size? Our council requirement is to have 3000 ltr tank. Thanks for us 3000L slimline tank was part of base price, we had to upgrade to 5000L for ~1.8K Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 14977Sep 08, 2019 10:17 pm Ambassador36 Manhattan52 Ambassador36 Hi guys! Do any earth work or excavation even if minimal leveling, as it’s easier before if you don’t have a lot off access up the sides. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 14978Sep 09, 2019 7:53 am We noticed that our outdoor leisure stacking door is shorter than all our ground floor doors. We got to know the height difference only in construction plan door schedule. If we increase it now, will it be a variation and need DA approval? Is that a structural change? Hi Champs, Yes, we had to increase all our door and window heights before tender, but there is no harm in checking though! Reach out to CSR and check what the requirements are. They don't let you know these things though, we only thought of it when our friend had overlooked this when increasing the ceiling height, we had to learn from their mistake unfortunately. Good luck! For the leisure door, apart from checking the height, we also checked how that height compares with the window in that area (dinning, rumpus, etc). we wanted the top of that door to be at a similar level with the top of the other windows in the same space so it looks more uniform. just more points for you to consider Can someone please offer some advice?
