Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 15Aug 22, 2019 7:12 am How far in are you? It makes a difference if you own the copyright to the plans or not. Much easier. Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 16Aug 22, 2019 12:11 pm Yes I agree once the contract is signed you won't hear or see David again. But we had one issue which the site supervisor wouldn't budge on and David did check it out and agreed with us. We didn't see him but the supervisor confirmed he had a look. We know a few people who have built with them and all share the same story. Poor communication and the big one is reluctant to fix things after completion. As well as us we know two other people who had to go to Consumer Affairs to get things done. It shouldn't be this way but they just hope you lose interest and give up. Having said all that when you read reviews of other builders you see similar stories. When people ask us about Regent we are honest. They and their staff are very slack and at times rude but for us the job was completed ahead of schedule and overall the build went well for such a difficult site. I certainly wouldn't build with them again and for most custom family homes they don't care about repeat business. Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 17Mar 15, 2020 6:58 am Hi, Just to balance this conversation up. I understand some may have had a bad experience with Regent, but that couldn't be further from our experience. We ended up building with Regent Homes. We had actually gone a fair way down the path (selections) with Simmonds, until a mutual friend who used to work in the building industry advised us not to and gave us 2 other companies to go to. Regent was one of those. They custom designed our home, stuck to our budget (which was important for us) and produced an amazing quality home. We've been in it for a month and are really happy with it. RE: the process, it was relatively smooth. In hindsight the administration phase is a problem for them. Either it's a funnelled choke point in the organisation or an incompetent employee, communication wasn't great here, but when you look back at it that's not what is important when building a house. A site supervisor, Scott Power, was exceptional. Good communicator, leads his tradies well and stays on time. I know choosing a builder is difficult, but if we were ever to build again, I'd highly recommend Regent. Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 19Mar 15, 2020 4:12 pm Better still for balance: Consider most building projects are quite complex works and will always have some issues to be resolved. How a builder behaves resolving issues will provide a good insight into their capability and ethics. I recommend potential customers ask Regent Homes for the contact details of 5 customers that you can talk with directly (face to face or mobile phone at a minimum) about how Regent Homes behaved in resolving such issues. This will provide some balance, and a reality check to the anonymous comments on social media. Re: Regent Homes Adelaide 20Mar 15, 2020 4:30 pm Yes that's a good idea. We were out the front a few years back and a couple pulled up who Regent had given our address to. We were more than happy to show them around. We were honest as we have been here and my thoughts are posted earlier. Other than here I've never seen any feedback good or bad on social media regarding Regent.
