Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Stellabella's second build - work stopped...again - 1 mo 221Jun 30, 2019 2:43 pm Sorry again about the lack of updates...a LOT happening here, unfortunately not house related! Just under a month ago I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia, and have spent a fair amount of time in hospital, doctors are not sure and it's a bit of a waiting game, but believe they'll have to deliver the baby in the next two weeks or so...34 weeks is the 'goal', so still over a month early. They did panic last week thinking they would have to deliver then, I was admitted and given steroids to get her lungs ready...but they decided to hold off. Lots of appointments, scans, tests and also means I have to finish work much sooner than planned. Also means DH can't work, since he works away and is uncontactable while he's gone, he can't risk going back. I'm hoping she stays in as long as possible, obviously better (to a certain point) that she does! Onto the house front... the engineer decided that some extra steel beams are required as well as additional work on the frame; treatment for the mould and also installation of a reticulation system for the termite protection as the barrier is no longer operative. Apparently the wait (as in, no work has been done on site for two months now) has been waiting for the engineer to decide what to do; then the builder had to quote the works as specified by the engineer; and then QBCC had to approve the variation. We kept getting differing information as to what had actually been done, but a few days ago we finally heard the variation (an exorbitant amount IMO) has been approved by QBCC. The variation also noted an extension of time of 40 days which brings our completion to the end of October. After everything that's happened, we are seriously considering selling the house once it's complete. We'll live there for a while to get it ready to sell (landscaping, etc) and also to avoid CGT, but with everything that's happened, we are no longer sure we want to stay there. We'll see. Builder says they hope to have the remaining rectification works complete by 15 July, at which point they'll continue 'as scheduled' with the build. 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build - work stopped...again - 1 mo 222Jun 30, 2019 3:32 pm Oh no you poor thing!!!! Make sure you definitely rest up and keep those legs crossed... Im so sorry you have had no progress. This is the last thing you should be stressing about whilst waiting for the baby to arrive! Hopefully once you eventually move in, it will all be worth it? Re: Stellabella's second build - work stopped...again - 1 mo 224Aug 09, 2019 8:24 pm Sorry for the lack of updates! Our baby girl was born on 12 July, six weeks early saying just 1.275kg. She's four weeks old and now weighs a whopping 2.08kg! We are still in hospital, likely to be here for around another week or so. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ As for the house, work only recommenced 29 July. Plumbing and electrical roughins were completed this week, and sheeting/plastering next week. Happy to finally see some progress. 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build - work stopped...again - 1 mo 225Aug 10, 2019 6:54 am Awww, she looks precious. Great that she is putting on the weight. Congratulations! Are you both thinking of selling it once it is finished? Re: Stellabella's second build - work stopped...again - 1 mo 227Nov 06, 2019 9:45 am Well...I'm finally in. A lot has happened, my (now ex) husband and I separated, so I'm moving in to the house by myself, with the baby. Basically we will have to sell it now, but I figured I'd live here until it sells - I appreciate everything my parents have done for me for the last 6 months, but I need more than a bedroom to live in. I'll post some pics when I have everything a bit more organised 😊 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Hi team, Im looking for a second hand sd4b monitor preferably white. 0 8923 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37143 Hi, We have a single story MacDonald Jones house, on a waffle pod slab with steel frame.
